Fun fact: Chris Hadfield (the Canadian astronaut on Tumblr!) was once prepping for a shuttle mission to the Mir space station, where he knew he’d meet Thomas Reiter—a German astronaut who is also an accomplished classical guitarist. Previous Mir astronauts had left a beat-up acoustic guitar for future crews, but Hadfield knew Reiter wouldn’t appreciate that, so he got hold of a modified, foldable electric guitar and packed it in his luggage. Up on Mir, floating weightlessly while hurtling around the earth, Hadfield and Reiter played guitar together, singing Beatles songs and Russian folk ballads.
