FAQ

What’s your name? How old are you? Where are you from?

I’m Lauren, a collection of organic molecules currently situated on the continent of Australia, Earth. I’ve been around the sun nineteen times.

Are you a scientist? Do you have any degrees?

Does a degree in fun count?

But seriously, I have no official qualifications as a scientist (yet), I’m two thirds of the way through an arts degree, majoring in writing, and after that I plan to get at least an undergrad degree in science.

Are you religious?

No. Here’s why, and here’s a disclaimer.

What do you think about… / Can you write about… / Can you explain…

I love getting questions, but they so often ask things I’ve already written about. It could save us both time if you quickly google “sciencesoup black holes” or “sciencesoup Richard Feynman” or whatever before you ask, just to check—and then if it doesn’t look like I’ve written about it, go for it, and I’ll see what I can do!

How can I get in contact with you?

You can message me here on tumblr, or you can email me.

I messaged you but haven’t received a reply yet.

Often I have to pick and choose the most interesting questions to answer because I just don’t have time to answer them all—I really wish I did, but unfortunately I am a human being and not a science-machine (and I do actually exist outside of the internet. Weird, I know).

You’re much more likely to get some form of response, however, if you ask off-anon.

I messaged you but received a reply from a different blog. What’s going on?

That’s my personal/primary blog. I created sciencesoup as a secondary blog, and Tumblr is set up so that I can only reply from my personal blog even if you sent the message to sciencesoup. It’s pretty rude of Tumblr, but I can’t change it.

Will you follow me and/or <insert person>?

Sorry, I can’t follow anyone from a secondary blog!
